Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office Records
Welcome to the PPSO Record Request Portal. This is a one stop for requesting PPSO records and services.
Most common requests:
- Crash investigation report
- Arrest report
- Investigation report (non-crash)
- Background check services
Background Check
PPSO provides a combination of background check related services. Of note, the request may only be made by the person whose background is being checked. The exception is where there is a properly notarized waiver (such as from an employer). Either way, PPSO Criminal Records will validate the identity of the requestor prior to processing the request.
Local Criminal History Check
A report of the local PPSO records that includes a list of all incidents that the person is explicitly connected with in the PPSO database- this includes incidents where the person is complainant, witness, arrested, etc..
Fingerprint/AFIS Card
The AFIS card service is a digital fingerprint identification system that allows law enforcement and other authorized agencies to compare and match fingerprints against a database of known and unknown prints.
"Professional Investigative Background Report"
Data about individuals is bought, sold, and rented at an alarming rate. Do you want to know what data about you is being transacted in this way? We pull a complete background report from advanced national databases and organize it into a clear, easy-to-read format. This exceptionally comprehensive background report searches and includes some combination of:

How do I submit a request?
Using the request function on the portal you can submit your request. Requests are processed on a first-come first served basis. Our staff will continue to communicate with you in writing. Upon submitting your request you will receive an email with a link to your active request ‘ticket’. There you will be able to see a log of the related activities associated with generating your request.
I have a time sensitive matter, how do I get an expedited process?
All requests are reviewed and processed in the order they are received; however, we frequently receive requests that are highly time
sensitive where there is desire to expedite the turn-around. This may require efforts that are outside of normal business hours or on
holidays. On the submission form you will have an optional ability to request that your submission be “Expedited”. When we get such a
request we will let you know in writing if it can be honored and what that expedited timing will look like (same day, next day, etc.).
Most expedited requests can be completed for the baseline service fee (currently $50, listed below); however, approving a request for
expedited processing is at the discretion the PPSO. Likewise, it may not be feasible, given the complexity of the request, to
expedite for the baseline service fee.
What happens after my request has been approved?
When your request has been approved you will receive an emailed invoice with a link to pay the associated fees online.
You have multiple options for receiving the requested materials most people opt for online delivery. PPSO will host the files
on our evidence sharing system for 14 calendar days after the invoice is paid. You will, in that time, be able to click
a link whereby your requested files are downloadable (as a compressed .zip file).
Requests are not made available for distribution until payment is satisfied. In some cases, where the request is sufficiently
complex or expansive we may require in advance of assembling the records a full or partial payment. In those cases we
will not begin assembling the files until the payment is satisfied, consistent with LA RS 44:32(C)(1).
In this scenario you will receive a communication in writing explaining the circumstances and what your options are. Many
times a slight change to the original request can dramatically reduce the volume of files that may be required to
satisfy the original request.
I need to download the files again, after the 14 day window.
Please submit a records request to have the files made available again.
Can I make my request in person?
If you prefer to make an in-person records request you may do so at the PPSO Administrative Building. You will be provided a form that you can complete in-person and submit to the on-duty clerk. The clerk will enter your request into our request ticketing system and further communications will be managed through the portal. Emailed forms are no longer accepted.
How will my completed request be delivered
You have three options:
- Online delivery via a download link from our website (most common).
- traditional mail.
- in-person pick-up.
Additional fees for mailing, printing, or for the USB ‘thumb’ drive apply.
Please note: We only used USB devices that have been approved by PPSO IT. PPSO IT policies do not permit outside devices to be plugged-in to PPSO computers.
